Arab American Heritage Month

Salaam Cultural Museum participated in the Arab American Heritage Month activities at the Burke Museum on the campus of the University of Washington earlier this month. We provided cultural artifacts for the Marhaba Interpretive Display.

Salaam Cultural Museum also helped to organize the My Name! My Voice! workshop at the Highline Heritage Museum in Burien on April 22. Artist Koloud “Kay” Tarapolsi guided participants to create altered book art using the immigrant story behind their name.

Salaam Cultural Museum is dedicated to sharing the culture and traditions of the people of the Middle East and North Africa, and the celebration of Arab American Heritage Month is a great time for us to do that.

We would like to thank 4Culture for their financial support to help make activities like this possible, as well as all the other organizers involved in the various heritage month events: Arabish Way, Burke Museum, Dunya Productions, Arab American National Museum, A Crafty Arab, and the Highline Heritage Museum.
